“It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.”
Fixed Abode has no fixed abode. We have no permanent performance venue, office building, no paid staff. We're a group of friends in who self-produce a recurring variety show to raise money for refugees, immigrants and other vulnerable populations in our shared Home - planet Earth. As California not-for-profit, a board of directors holds us accountable to this mission.
How does it work?
We choose an organization to support, book a venue, pick a date, and spread the word. We devise a theme, and appoint a cast of musicians, poets, writers, and comedians. We get together and plan an evening of entertainment, laughter, and good will. We commission artists to create and donate paintings, ceramics and prints for a silent auction at the show. After the performance we cut a check to the selected charity, and that's it. Who knew doing a little bit of good could be so easy, so fun and so simple?
